Printer Showing Offline? Here’s How to Bring It Back Online

An “offline” printer status almost always means a communication breakdown between the printer and your computer — not a hardware failure. Start by turning the printer off, waiting 30 seconds, then turning it back on. Also restart your computer and router.

On Windows, go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and uncheck “Use Printer Offline” if it’s ticked. Set the printer as default and verify the correct port is selected in printer properties. For
wireless printers, ensure both the printer and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network. If it drops offline repeatedly, consider assigning your printer a static IP address to maintain a stable, permanent connection. Urban Edge Developers offers callback support to guide you through this process.
